The Smothers Brothers
The Smothers Brothers
Mar 20, 2009 7:30 pm
Where: The Venue - Orlando
Over four decades of audiences have seen the Smothers Brothers in their own primetime comedy series in the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s, guest appearances on numerous television programs, countless engagements as headliners in Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe, a hot-selling video, twelve top-selling albums, as well as continuous coast-to-coast concert tours and performances with symphony orchestras. The YoYo Man (Tom) and the Voice of Yo (Dick) travel and appear with the Smothers Brothers in concert.
The contributions Tom and Dick have made to the entertainment world throughout their careers were so highly respected that the Museum of Television and Radio (in New York) produced a retrospective and seminar on their work; an honor not lightly accorded. The entertainment industry honored them with one of its most valuable awards: a star on the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame. SMOTHERED, a film by award-winning director, Maureen Muldaur, documents the Brothers’ struggle against censorship and their subsequent firing by the CBS Television Network.
The millennium has brought new honors for the legendary duo, including a reunion of THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS COMEDY HOUR at the USA Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, induction into the illustrious Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, an invitation to become Artist Members of the Board of Directors of the Wolf Trap Foundation, 2003 Freedom of Expression Award presented at the annual Video Software Dealers' Association in Las Vegas (2002 recipient was George Carlin) and Honorary Doctorate Degrees from their alma mater, San Jose State University.

UCF Arena - Orlando
African American professional basketball team. The team was organized in 1927 in Chicago by the promoter Abe Saperstein and initially was a competitive team that won a world professional championship in 1940. Since the 1930s the team had incorporated comic routines into their games, and, with the integration of the NBA in the 1950s, the team increasingly emphasized comedy over competition. For the next 50 years the Globetrotters played exhibition games all over the world, displaying spectacular ball handling and humorous antics and always defeating their official opposition, the Washington Generals. In the mid-1990s the team returned to playing competitive games.

Trans Siberian Orchestra
With Trans-Siberian Orchestra, first the music is created with no artificial limitations, and then we seek out within the classical, rock, Broadway and R & B worlds, the very best singers and musicians to bring each song to life. This also in many ways forces us to operate on a higher level. This environment has the additional benefit of causing a cross pollenization of musical ideas, creating hybrid forms of music that normally never would have occurred, such as an R&B singer doing a classical style melody and bringing gospel touches to it that causes it to glitter in ways that even the creators could not have predicted. Another very important aspect in the creation of the band, is that there could be no limits on the members; we mix all races and ages.
